Monica Allison, OD, FOAA
Dr. Monica Allison, OD was born in Dallas, TX . She attended college at Angelo State University and graduated with honors with her BS degree. While at Angelo State University she became interested in optometry as a profession. She attended the University of Houston College of Optometry and worked in a private practice in the Woodlands learning more about the profession. Dr. Allison was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society and the Gold Key Honor Society while at the University of Houston. She was also the recipient of the Health Professions Scholarship Program for the United States Army.
After graduation in 1998, her three year commitment began with the Army. It was while at the Officer Basic Course at Fort Sam Houston that she and her family fell in love with San Antonio. After her three year commitment ended, she returned to San Antonio to begin private practice life. She was able to purchase Stone Oak Vision Source in 2005 and has enjoyed growing the practice.
Dr. Allison is trained in the treatment and detection of ocular disease and is glaucoma certified. She has updated the office with new equipment to provide comprehensive eye care for all ages. She is a participant in the Infant See program, sponsored by the American Optometric Association and provides comprehensive examinations to children under one year of age at no cost.
In addition, Dr. Allison is currently president of the Bexar County Optometric Society, and a member of the Texas Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. She serves as co-chair for the Texas Optometric Women's Network in San Antonio. She is also a Fellow and active member of the Orthokeratology Academy of America and also a lecturer at their annual meeting. Dr Allison is certified to fit many different designs of corneal molding lenses. She enjoys finding the perfect solution to her patients’ needs whether it be specialty contact lenses, glasses, medical eye care, or a LASIK surgery consultation. |

David Dorsey, OD Dr. Dorsey has been with the practice since 2008. Dr. David Dorsey graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1986. He completed research in color vision to help determine the CIE International color space. Dr. Dorsey won the Kahn award for visual science research for his work in developmental vision in kindergartners. Later in his career he served as director of the South Texas Rural Health Service for 4 years.
Therapeutically and glaucoma certified, Dr. Dorsey has previously worked with opthalmologists in surgical co-management, glaucoma treatment and specialty contact lens fitting. He is experienced and comfortable determining your candidacy for the latest vison correcting surgeries if you are interested. If contact lenses are something you are interested in, and perhaps you've been told you weren't a candidate in the past, he makes it a point to keep current on the newest technological advances in contact lenses and will be happy to see if there is a fit that is right for you. He is also certified to fit corneal molding lenses.
Hobbies include travel (especially to Europe), home restorations, spelunking and wine studies (although not at the same time!). Dr. Dorsey has worked in Sonora caverns and assisted in opening new passageways and also participated in cave restoration. Professionally, he is a member of Bexar County Optometric Society.
As a former athlete, Dr. Dorsey is well versed in visual needs for sports and can help work with athletes to optimize their performance.

Nancy Guzman, OD
Dr. Nancy Guzman received her Bachelor's of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Indiana School of Optometry. Dr. Guzman completed her internships at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta, Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Centro de Rehabilitacion Visual in Guanajuato, and Atwater Eye Care Center in Indiana. While obtaining her Doctorate Degree, Dr. Guzman was a member of The Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, where she participated in two mission trips to provide vision care for the people of Guatemala and Honduras. After graduation, Dr. Guzman practiced in Eagle Pass for 2 years to be closer to her family, but soon realized she missed the beautiful city of San Antonio. While she was a student at UTSA, she worked as an assistant with Dr. Allison and was excited to hear her office had expanded and would have a position for her.
Dr. Guzman is a member of the Bexar County Optometric Society, the Texas Optometry Association , and the American Optometric Association. She is is trained in the treatment and detection of ocular disease and is glaucoma certified. She enjoys fitting contact lenses and also working with children.
Dr. Guzman is happy to be back in San Antonio and looks forward to providing her services to Stone Oak. |
